Okay, who else feels super awkward when it's just you in front of the camera? Like... I'm suddenly very aware of my face... and what the heck do I do with my hands?? Let's try out these posing ideas during our next photoshoot:

Throw your head back laughing

Start fake laughing. Fake it 'til you make it.

The Dress Twirl

grab both sides of your dress and spin in a circle while looking down at the dress or up at the sky, while laughing. Fake laugh until you for-real laugh. This posing prompt shows off the dress and adds motion, texture, and elicits genuine joy.

The Hair-in-Face Close-up

Either zoom in or place the camera really close to the your face while turning away from the wind, allowing your hair to blow in front of your face. This pose highlights texture and motion.

The Walk Away

Walk away from the camera while looking to the side. Bonus points for a pretty foreground and background.

Adjust Your Clothes

Or at least pretend to! It'll give you something to do with your hands and your eyes something to focus on - or just look out into the distance.

Run your fingers through your hair

Give those awkward, idle hands a job to do!

Put your thumbs in your pocket

Again, it gives your hands a job!

The Look Back

The saying "never look back" doesn't apply here! Walk away from the camera, do a 360 degree spin and look back towards to the camera. Swinging your arm towards the camera creates leading lines to draw the eye to the subject - you! Bones points for getting your hair to fly majestically.

The Rock-on

Turn your back to the camera and, well, you get it.
